Achieve The Manicorn
A Step by Step Guide
You’d have to be living on the moon to not know how popular unicorns have been in the past year. From extremely ‘scary’ unicorn Halloween costumes, to severely over-priced unicorn toys from Harrods (yes, it is true to size, but even for that price you can’t ride it, nor does it fly).
Something that’s come to our attention at Chinstrap, is that unicorns are no longer just for females. Men everywhere are trying out this trend. Whether that’s by using make-up, glitter or hair dye, these guys are rocking the shit out of it.
So, I’ve decided it’s time to try it out for myself. I have a willing subject (aka my boyfriend), who’s letting me ransack my makeup collection, and put a lot of it on his face, beard and eyebrows. Love you boo, mwah. (Video of process at the bottom of page)

For starters, I wipe your face and beard clean with a Superdrug’s Micellar Facial Wipes. Like if you’re applying your everyday makeup, you want a fresh, blank canvas to work with (these are £1.29 from Superdrug, but if you have any facial wipes to hand, these will do the same thing).

STEP ONE
Put some eyebrow gel on your brows so it’s got time to set whilst you’re doing the beard, I’ve gone for ‘Pixi by Petra’s Brow Tamer’. You can buy this for £12 from lots of places online, such as M&S, or the Pixi Beauty range itself. There are many other eyebrow gels out there, so if this is a little too pricey for your’ pocket, don’t fear. You can go as chill or as crazy with your’ brows as you want. I’ve gone for a more voluminous look.

STEP TWO
To make the beard and moustache more glittery, I’ve started with Primark’s Glitter Obsessed Glitter Eye Cream, which also works as a primer for the eyeshadow (It got it as a present, but upon googling it costs £4) Next, I used the Makeup Revolution Mermaids Vs Unicorns eyeshadow palette (how very apt). It’s only £4 too, which is a bargain.
I’ve gone with an ombré effect, you can start with the brightest colours on the edge, and as you get to the middle of the beard use the darker ones (or vice versa!) I applied the eyeshadow with my fingers to get the most pigment, however most brushes would be suitable for this. Many people will either use eyeshadow, coloured mascaras or hair dye, so it’s obviously up to you and how permanent you want this look.

STEP THREE
THENNN, it’s glitter time. I’ve put the glitter all over the face as it’s a pump and will go pretty much anywhere anyway. The Body Shop do a good All Over Shimmer ‘Sparkler’, which can be used a little to create a subtle dust of glitter, or lots for a more glam look. My bottle is currently no longer in stock, but the gold sparkler is on offer for £7.
STEP FOUR
Put on your unicorn horn and feel fucking fabulous!
